Purefoods enters Quarterfinals with a win in Double OT

Purefoods TJ Giants defeats Talk N Text in double overtime, 126-123 and gains the last slot in the quarter finals.

While Import Marquin Chandler fouling out in the fourth quarter, the locals carried Purefoods led by Kerby Raymundo with 33 points, Peter June Simon with 26 points and James Yap with 21 points.

Special mention goes to Topex Robinson for his hussle outrebounding taller players and Rich Alvarez who had a good game with 11 points and his tough defense on Import Rashard Bell helped Purefoods win without an import in the two overtimes.

Purefoods ends classification round with a loss

Burger King Whoppers defeats Purefoods TJ Giants, 96-86 and finishes the classification round with 3 straight losses and a chance to go to the semis outright. James Yap sat out of this game with a flu, Purefoods Import Chandler had 26 points while Peter June Simon and Enrico Villanueva led all locals with 15 points each.

Realtors defeats Giants

Sta Lucia Realtors gets back at Purefoods TJ Giants, outplaying Purefoods in the second half, 104-95. Purefoods players were frustrated with the calls of the referee specially Team Captain Kerby Raymundo who threw his jersey out after fouling out in the fourth quarter.

In their previous game, Purefoods won with Kelly Williams and Nelbert Omolon not playing for Sta Lucia, but this game featured Omolon but Williams maybe out for the rest of the season. Marquin Chandler led Purefoods with 35 points, but could not lead Purefoods to a win. James Yap led all locals with 16 points and new Purefoods Point Guard Celino Cruz had a good game with 7 points.

Barangay Ginebra’s 6th straight win ends Purefoods TJ Giants 4 Game winning streak, 116-109. Purefoods locals Peter June Simon and Kerby Raymundo led Purefoods with 23 and 21 points respectively. Import Marquin Chandler had 21 points but was ineffective at the end of the game where Purefoods tried to make a comeback.

Purefoods Point guard Topex Robinson made a crucial defensive play in the last few seconds by stealing the ball but splitting his free throw to make it a 6 point lead with 5 seconds left. James Yap led all locals with 16 points.

Purefoods TJ Giants gains the share for second place beating the Sta. Lucia Realtors 93-91, in a come from behind win led by James Yap and Kerby Raymundo who had 17 and 19 points respectively. While Import Marquin Chandler fouled out with two minutes left James Yap had a three-point play on a fast break to give Purefoods a two point lead with 16 seconds left.

Chandler is back

Former Purefoods Import Marquin Chandler is back and leads Purefoods TJ Giants to a win vs. the Coca Cola Tigers, 92-85. Former Best Import Chandler returns with 30pts, 12 reb, 4 asts, 3 blks. James Yap fresh from winning the three-point shootout in the All-star weekend had 22 point to lead the locals in scoring. Rommel Adducul had his best game since being diagnosed with cancer last year scoring 9 points.

Purefoods loses to Alaska again

The Alaska Aces made it two in a row this season vs. Purefoods TJ Giants, 80-74. The game was controlled by Alaska the whole game but Purefoods made a comeback in the fourth quarter but was short, Peter June Simon off the bench led Purefoods with 20 points, while Jahmar Thorpe had 20 points and 15 rebounds in maybe his last game.
