Peter June Simon, called “Super Sub” because he is backup for MVP James Yap in the past was named Player of the Week after having a career game vs Air 21 Express with 42 points (11 out of 11 from the field), followed by a decent performance vs Powerade, scoring 16 points (8 out of 14 from the field) as Derby Ace Llamados won back-to-back games for the first time this conference.

Rafi Reavis Injured, out for 3 months

B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados won over the Philippine Patriots in a practice game but lost Rafi Reavis to a fractured middle right finger and will be out at least 3 months.

Reavis will now join Kerby Raymudo, Marc Pingris and James Yap in the sidelines as Derby Ace tries to defend their Philippine Cup title.

Prayers for James Yap Surgery

Reigning Most Valuable Player James Yap will undergo Surgery tomorrow to remove a polyp in his nasal passage that has been bothering him the past few years. But according to Yap, the problem is not serious and he will be back in practice in one week.

Please pray for the operation and speedy recovery of James Yap.

James Yap for MVP?

After winning the Best Player of the Conference and Finals MVP in the Philippine Cup, James Yap has a big chance to gain his second Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award this year despite the Derby Ace Llamados (Purefoods TJ Giants) losing in the semifinals vs San Miguel.

While Kerby Raymundo was nursing with an injury, James Yap led almost all the games of the Llamados as their leading scorer among all the locals. Even though there were a lot of distractions physically and emotionally for James, he almost carried the team to another finals appearance. Yap averaged 23PPG against Rain or Shine in the Quarterfinals and 16.33PPG against the tight defense of San Miguel in the Semifinals.
