Petron gives up 2010 1st Pick for 2012 Pick

Petron (former Derby Ace/Purefoods) gives up its 2010 1st round Draft Pick in the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft to Air 21 Express in exchange for the 2012 1st Round Draft Pick. This means Petron will have no Draft Pick in the 2010 PBA Rookie Draft (unless they trade some players for a draft pick) since Air 21 also has their 1st round and 2nd round draft picks from the Marc Pingris trade.

Although there were no reason given by Petron management why they gave back the 2010 1st pick to Air 21, maybe because they are stockpiling draft picks for the future since their current players are not that young anymore and also in preparation for 2012 where some Smart Gilas players will enter the PBA draft.

The 2010 PBA Rookie Draft will be held on August 29 at Market! Market in The Fort.

why did they gave the first pick for this year?they could have a rabeh alhussaini for their team, a legit 6 foot 7 center who can shoot from the perimeter!!sayang lng…pde pa din naman sila mag pick sa 2012 kahit di nila bigay ung first pick nila ngaun…

i totally agree with wil, y did they gave up their first pick???!!! for what???!!! or for whom???!!! waiting for someone in 2012???!!! we might not have that opportunity in 2012!!! who knows air 21 might strengthen up its lineup and we might not have the first overall or 2nd or even third overall!!! and with rabeh alhussaini available, how could you ask for more??? a 6-7 guy who could score and rebound, a player who once scored 33 points and grabbed 20 rebounds!!! giving him up is am sorry for the term totally insane!!! we fans are hoping for something to look forward to the next season and here we are again disappointed with that development!!! y cnt purefoods or petron be like talk n text, ginebra or san miguel???!!! that keeps on upgrading their lineup whenever it present itself???!!! yeah i know we won the all filipino but in life’s every aspect, you should always aim higher!!! if we won the all filipino this year we should aim for more next year, winning just one championship should be a disappointment, we should aim for 2 championship or even a grandslam perhaps and getting al hussaini should have been the first step but u blew it once more!!! i don’t know what is with you guys that you can’t seem to upgrade your lineup like others do!!! the last trade involving kelly williams and ryan reyes, why is it that you weren’t able to do that???!!! there is an off a lot of trades that happened this year like for example the cyrus baguio and willy miller trade, you could have traded someone for willy miller to give us another scorer or someone who could create his own shot!!! and look at san miguel, they even traded ken bono for an bonafide mvp candidate arwind santos that eventually killed us in the semi finals of the fiesta conference???!!! going further past, they have gotten mick pinisi, lordy tugade, joseph yeoh, ginebra has gotten ronald tubid before, coke had gotten gary david and all the other trades but you know what is the sad part about it???!!! its the strong team that is getting stronger and the weak teams, they just stagnate!!! what is it with them that is ain’t with us that they can strengthen up their lineups???!!! and now giving up your first pick who could have been the best 1st pick in the last five first pick for an “uncertain” draft pick in the future is totally outrageous!!! and the management can’t even give a valid reason for it!!! if you continue doing stuffs like this, don’t be surprised if you lose several fans in the future!!! you are breaking our hearts dear sirs to whom this may concern!!! pls to the one updating this site, pls ask for some explanation about that giving of the first pick for a future uncertain pick!!! because for me, that is b**lsh*t!!!

contrary to these guys, good choice.

rabeh is yeah… a scoring post player that is the total opposite of rafi reavis but there is an upside to this.

this draft is full of good players but these players aren’t “superstar” players.

next year players like tiu, slaughter, baracael, barroca, paul lee, and others could be available.

besides, they can also use that pick as a trade bait.

the fact that rabeh is the consensus draft pick means that this pool of talent isn’t that worthy to make a fuss about.
