Ginebra defeats B-Meg, 99-79

The B-Meg Llamados led by James Yap (11 points in the opening quarter) controlled the 1st quarter but it was downhill from there as they lose by 20 points to the Barangay Ginebra Kings in the PBA Governors Cup Round Robin Semifinals. Mark Caguiao led Ginebra with 33 points.

Ginebra import Donald Sloan (26 points) outplayed B-Meg import Myron Allen who was ineffective for most of the game with only 17 points…

The Barangay Ginebra Kings won for the 2nd straight time without an import, this time beating the B-Meg Llamados, 89-85. 5 players scored in double figures for Ginebra led by Ronald Tubid with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

B-Meg import Darnell Hinson bounced back from a 5-point performance the last game scoring 21 points and also contributed 9 rebounds and 5 assists but it was not enough to keep B-Meg from losing its second straight game and slid down the standings in the current PBA Governors Cup

Derby Ace defeats Ginebra, 96-89

Best Player of the Game James Yap had a rare double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Derby Ace Llamados to a big win against Barangay Ginebra Kings. James scored 8 points in the final 2 minutes of the game to seal their 2nd win in the current PBA Commissioners Cup. Peter June Simon also had a great game with 20 points (7/12 from the field and 5/5 from the free throw line).

Ginebra wins 89-86

Barangay Ginebra stopped the winning streak of the Derby Ace Llamados to 5 as Ginebra finally wins a very close game, 89-86. James Yap had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but the shot bounced off the rim.

It was a tight game for these two popular teams as they exchanged baskets in the 4th quarter with Peter June Simon leading Derby Ace with 26 points and 5 rebounds including a triple to make it 87-86 cutting the Ginebra lead to 1. But Mark Caguioa made 2 free throws to make it a three point game 89-86 and a miss by James Yap sealed the win for the Kings…

The Purefoods TJ Giants (now B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados) received their
Championship Rings for winning the previous Philippine Cup before the start of their game against Barangay Ginebra. But the celebration was short-lived as Ginebra started on a 15-0 run in the 1st quarter and never looked back beating Derby Ace, 93-82.

B-Meg who is the defending Philippine Cup champions started 0 out of 8 from the field along with 5 turnovers. ..
