BMeg Llamados has traded Nino “KG” Canaleta and Jondan Salvador for Joe Devance of Air21. Although this trade is till subject to the approval of PBA Commissioner Salud, there are reports that it has already been approved with no changes in the trade.

Derby Ace Llamados Updates

B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados has narrowed down their choices for import in the upcoming PBA Governors Cup which starts on June 2, 2011 in Dubai as Derby Ace battles Talk N Text. With the height limit for their import as only 6’2 they want to get either Quincy Douby or get back Courtney Beasley.

Meanwhile, Derby Ace players James Yap, Don Allado, Jondan Salvador and Jonas Villanueva who suffered from different injuries last conference has all been cleared to play and all are practicing with the team. And Rafi Reavis who played sparingly last conference will return this June and will play by the 3rd week.

Derby Ace takes Game 1 in 2 OTs

Derby Ace wins 106-97

The Derby Ace Llamados takes Game 1 f their best-of-three quarterfinals matchup between the Meralco Bolts, 106-97 in double overtime. B-Meg led for 3 quarters, their biggest lead was 16 points before Meralco came back in the third quarter.

Peter June Simon led the Llamados with 35 points on 14 out of 22 from the field including clutch baskets in the second overtime where Derby Ace outscored Meralco, 15 -6. James Yap contributed 27 points but fouled out in the 1st overtime.

Special mention goes to Jondan Salvador who grabbed 17 rebounds and Don Allado who had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Another guard who played well was Jonas Villanueva who scored 18 points and contributed 6 assists and 4 steals.

The win was a big step for the title retention of Derby Ace, as they try to be the first team in 25 years to defend their All-Filipino title.

Another close game between these two teams as the Alaska Aces survives a come back from Derby Ace Llamados, 92-87. MVP James Yap who is still wearing a protective mask missed a crucial three-pointer which should have cut down the lead of Alaska to 1 with a few seconds remaining in the game.

James Yap and Peter June Simon both top scored for Derby Ace with 16 points. It was clear that the Llamados missed the services of Pingris and Reavis as Alaska had a 50-38 advantage in rebounding (only Jondan Salvador had double digits in rebounding with 12), but Bmeg had good ball rotation dishing out 26 assists with both Jonas Villanueva and Roger Yap having 6 assists.

The Defending Champions now starts the conference with 2 losses, losing their first game of the season against Talk N Text.
