B-Meg picks Pong Escobal in Dispersal Draft

Only two teams joined the Barako Bull Dispersal Draft as B-Meg Derby Ace chose Pong Escobal and San Miguel Beermen picked Lordy Tugade. Smart Gilas will replace Barako Bull in the PBA 2nd Conference which starts Feb 18.

Pong Escobal is a 5’11” Guard who played for Talk N Text, Sta. Lucia Realtors, Meralco Bolts and Barako Bull. Escobal will be the 4th Point Guard on Jorge Gallent’s rotation along with Roger Yap, Jonas Villanueva and Chris Timberlake.

Derby Ace faces old Coach

PBA 36th Season Philippine Cup
B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados vs Meralco Bolts
October 20, 2010, 7:30pm, Cuneta Astrodome

Both Derby Ace and Meralco are in a losing streak and one team will finally break it tonight as Coach Ryan Gregorio of the Meralco Bolts will face his former team, the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados at the Cuneta Astrodome.

B-Meg has lost its first 3 games in the current Philippine Cup but Coach Jorge Gallent hopes to get his first win in the PBA as head coach and it will be more memorable if he wins because he will be facing the previous mentor of Derby Ace.

Another match up to look for is current MVP James Yap vs Meralco franchise player, Mac Mac Cardona.

Derby Ace now 0-3

As we all know, Derby Ace Llamados is now 0-3 to start the PBA Philippine Cup, although they still have time to recover, the injuries has really affected the team. Their interior defense is different without Marc Pingric and Rafi Reavis and I think they are still adjusting to their new coach, Jorge Gallent. And MVP James Yap may still be bothered playing with a face mask.

What do you think management should do to improve the team? Please leave your comments below, thank you!

Derby Ace will try to defend title minus Raymundo and Pingris

Philippine Basketball Association 36th Season
All-Filipino Conference

B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados (formerly called Purefoods TJ Giants) will try to defend the All-Filipino Title minus the services of both Kerby Raymundo and Marc Pingris who will have surgery in the US and a new coach, Jorge Gallent. Raymundo and Pingris maybe out for 4-5 months and will try to comeback in the 2nd conference after the PBA has reinstated the 3-conference format for the 36th season.

Although there are rumors of trades by Derby Ace, there are still no confirmed transactions and the two Rookies drafted by B-Meg, Pari Llagas and Val Acuna might be signed soon to fill up the slots vacated by Raymundo and Pingris.
