Ginebra defeats B-Meg

Philippine Basketball Association 36th Season
2011 Governors Cup
B-Meg Llamados vs Barangay Ginebra Kings
Ginebra defeats B-Meg, 89-85

The Barangay Ginebra Kings won for the 2nd straight time without an import, this time beating the B-Meg Llamados, 89-85. 5 players scored in double figures for Ginebra led by Ronald Tubid with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

B-Meg import Darnell Hinson bounced back from a 5-point performance the last game scoring 21 points and also contributed 9 rebounds and 5 assists but it was not enough to keep B-Meg from losing its second straight game and slid down the standings in the current PBA Governors Cup.

James Yap and Peter June Simon both scored 14 points (Simon scored 9 points in the 4th quarter) but Yap was only 3 out of 11 from the 2-point range. Marc Pingris continued with his great play with 11 points and 9 boards but newcomer Joe Devance disappeared from this game scoring only 8 points and got just 4 rebounds.

The Llamados had a chance to at least tie the game in the closing minutes but Rafi Reavis missed from point blank range and another shot missed by Joe Devance. James Yap who has made a lot of big shots in his career was covered well by Ginebra and was not able to touch the ball much in the end game.

Willie Miller and JC Intal did not play for BGK due to injuries while B-Meg is still missing the services of Kerby Raymundo, Rico Maierhofer and Jonas Villanueva.

Next Game: B-Meg vs Powerade

B-Meg Llamados vs Powerade Tigers
Friday, June 17, 5pm, Araneta Coliseum

Both teams lost their 1st game
Powerade lost to Ginebra by 12 and B-Meg lost to ROS by 12 also

Both teams with key injuries
Powerade missing top scorer Gary David and B-Meg missing Kerby Raymundo, Rafi Reavis and Rico Maierhofer.

Import Matchup
Chris Porter, 6’6 plays Power Forward vs Stefhon Hannah, 6’1 Point Guard/Shooting Guard
Porter scored 38 points in his 1st game but it will be Marc Pingris and Jerwin Gaco who will be the one guarding Porter. Hannah needs to step up from his bad game against ROS or else B-Meg will be forced to replace him early.

Prediction
B-Meg will win by 14 points, the Llamados just needs to guard Chris Porter, there are no other scorers in Powerade. If Hannah bounces back from his subpar game, this will be an easy win for B-Meg. James Yap and Joe Devance will lead in scoring.

Derby Ace retains Spears, Raymundo back in action

B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados will try to win their 3rd straight game today at 4pm versus Alaska at the Big Dome. Derby Ace import Shamari Spears has kept his job for now while Kerby Raymundo will be back in action today after a long rehab of his injury and will wear jersey #35.

Kerby Raymundo to play in 2nd Conference

Good News for Purefoods/Derby Ace Fans!

Kerby Raymundo will return to the Philippines on March 8, 2011 after having surgery and rehabilitation in the US and will be ready to play when he comes back. He will miss a few games in the PBA second conference but will be ready to help the Llamados.

Win or go home for Derby Ace tonight

2010 PBA Fiesta Conference Semifinals Game 5
B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados vs San Miguel Beermen
July 30, 2010, 5pm – Araneta Coliseum

Purefoods has comeback from a 0-2 and 3-1 series deficit in the past and is only 1 of 2 teams to win 3 straight wins after being down 3-1 (against Alaska in 2006). Will history repeat itself? Derby Ace will try to take it one game at a time and try to stop Powerhouse San Miguel in Game 5 Today at the Araneta Coliseum.

In order for the Llamados to win, they must match the energy and intensity of the Beermen specially Gabe Freeman who has been killing them with his rebounding. The locals specially Derby Ace bench must show up tonight to keep fresh legs on the floor specially Paul Artadi, Nino Canaleta, Peter June Simon and Rico Maierhofer.

But the key in Game 5 is rebounding (this is where we are missing the services of Kerby Raymundo and Marc Pingris, who is playing with an injury) and of course the play of Derby Ace Import Tony Washam is critical, Washam played poorly in the 3 games that Derby Ace lost to San Miguel, we hope his championship experience in other leagues will show tonight.

The Painters lead the best-of-five series, 2-1 and can close the series tonight but Derby Ace will try to force Game 5 this Sunday. Derby Ace replaces Import Clif Brown with Tony Washam . Although chemistry might be an issue with a new Import, the way the locals have been playing specially defensively since last conference will be a major factor in this game.

Marc Pingris (thigh injury) and Kerby Raymundo (knee injury) who were sidelined with an injury the last game are committed to play but is still a question mark on Game 4.
