Petron defeats B-Meg, 97-92

Even if it was non-bearing game for the Llamados, B-Meg played well but still fell short as they close the PBA Governors Cup and the PBA 36th Season with a loss to Petron, 97-92. After winning their 1st game in the semifinals against Rain or Shine, B-Meg lost 4 straight games with 3 games by double-digits.

Five players scored in double figures for B-Meg led by James Yap with 23 points and Joe Devance with 18 points. B-Meg import Myron Allen scored 15 points in his farewell performance in the PBA.

Coach Jorge Gallent in his 1st coaching stint in the Philippine Basketball Association had a 20-24 record from 41-23 in Coach Ryan Gregorio’s last season with B-Meg. It was clearly a disappointing season for B-Meg, big changes will surely happen in the off-season.

Game scores:

Petron 97 – Grundy 29, Santos 22, Salvacion 14, Ildefonso 14, Miranda 12, Al-Hussaini 4, Baclao 2, Duncil 0, Hubalde 0, Pennisi 0.

B-Meg 92 – Yap J 23, Devance 18, Pingris 16, Allen 15, Urbiztondo 10, Allado 8, Reavis 2, Gaco 0, Fernandez 0, Adducul 0.

Quarterscores: 23-15, 46-41, 65-66, 97-92

Philippine Basketball Association 36th Season
2010-2011 Philippine Cup Semifinals Game 4
B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados vs Talk N Text Tropang Texters
Derby Ace defeats Talk N Text 98-93

MVP James Yap led B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados to a win versus the Talk N Text Tropang Texters with 26 points, but it was Rico Maierhofer and Marc Pingris who set the tone for the game and grabbed crucial rebounds in the 4th quarter to tie this best-of-seven semifinals series at 2-2.

Marc Pingris had a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Rookie of the Year Rico Maierhofer scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds (6 offensive). With the series now tied at 2-2, it is now just a best-of-three series with the winner of Game 5 this Wednesday gaining an upper hand.

Derby Ace had their biggest lead at 21, 66-45 in the 3rd quarter but Talk N Text battled back in the 4th led by Jimmy Alapag who scored 22 points in the game. B-Meg must improve their free throw shooting in their next game, since they missed 16 free throws in Game 4.
