Congratulations Alaska

Alaska Aces won the 100th PBA Championship by beating San Miguel Beermen in Game 6, 102-88. Alaska has now won 13 PBA titles since 1986 all with Tim Cone as Head Coach. LA Tenorio and Cyrus Baguio were named co-Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP).

After losing to the Purefoods TJ Giants on a 4-0 sweep in the Philippine Cup Finals, the Aces bounced back this conference beating Ginebra in the Quarterfinals (3-2), Talk N Text in the Semifinals (4-3) and San Miguel in the Finals (4-2).

Purefoods TJ Giants ended their win-loss,win-loss streak with a win over the Coca Cola Tigers 88-79. Purefoods also had their revenge on the tigers which beat them in the first round for their only win so far. While Team Captain Kerby Raymundo was sidelined with a knee injury, James Yap took charge with 22 points and backing him up is Peter June Simon with 18 points for the Giants. The two combined for 20 points in the final quarter to give Purefoods its first back to back win in the Philippine Cup.

Purefoods is also celebrating its 10th year of partnership with Hormel Foods International Corp.

Purefoods TJ Giants built a 15 point lead in the third quarter but the winless Coca Cola Tigers comes back in the final quarter to beat Purefoods 93-79. Coke shot well in the second half with 8 of 14 from the three point range and 21 out of 24 from the Free throw line.

Norman Gonzales top scored for Coke with 17 points, while Purefoods were led by James Yap with 15 points and Kerby Raymundo with 13 points. Special mention to Nino Canaleta who had a good game contributing 13. points

Purefoods Tender Juciy Giants came back from a 13 point deficit in the 3rd quarter but came up short in the final minutes of the game, losing to Barangay Ginebra 95-87. Jayjay Helterbrand and Ronald Tubid made big baskets at the end of the 4th quarter to give Ginebra their second win and giving Purefoods its 1st loss this conference.

James Yap and Peter June Simon led Purefoods with 21 and 16 points respectively.
